AY 2020 Kyoto university training session for cryogen users in autumn

LTM
1 October 2020
All cryogen users,

Kyoto University will hold a safety training session based on the High Pressure Gas Safety Act detailed below. This year we will not hold any session in hall, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We ask all the cryogen users to take the online course.

To take the online training session once in an academic year is mandatory for all Kyoto University faculty, staff, and students who use or are planning to use liquid nitrogen or liquid helium. If you have not yet taken it this academic year, you should take it at this occasion. The relevant faculty and staff members are requested to inform all undergraduate and graduate students in their laboratories about this training session.

Although taking the online course is not mandatory for users who purchase cryogens outside of the university, they are also welcome to take the online course.

Those who take the online training session will be registered as cryogen users in AY 2020 with us.

ID card number

In Uji and Katsura campuses, liquid nitrogen suppliers use your ID card number to identify. Usually we collect them in the hall of training session, but this year we cannot. Thus, from this year onwards, we ask all cryogen users, including users in Yoshida campus, to enter ID card number before taking online training course every year. ID card number may change, so we ask it every year. Please note that you do not need to re-enter the information during the same academic year once it has been entered.

Online course

This year, we offer an online course for all cryogen users.

To take the online course, access the “Lecture” section of our web application, log in with your individual account, then click the “Take the on-line lecture” button. You should use the VPN service provided by IIMC if you take it from off-campus. Follow the instruction.

The online course is already available, and will be closed in the end of October.
