AY 2019 Kyoto University Autumn Training Session for Cryogen Users

To all cryogen users,

Kyoto University holds a safety training session, based on the High Pressure Gas Safety Act, as detailed below. Attendance at the training session is mandatory for all Kyoto University faculty, staff, and students who use or are planning to use liquid nitrogen or liquid helium. The relevant faculty and staff members are kindly requested to inform all undergraduate and graduate students in their laboratories about this training session.

This is the last training session in AY 2019. Attendance at this training session is mandatory for all Kyoto University members who are planning to use liquid nitrogen or liquid helium but have not attended any training session in AY 2019. The users, who purchase cryogens outside of the university and have not attend any training session in AY 2019, are also welcome to attend this training session. All users of all campuses (Yoshida, Uji, Katsura, etc.) who have not attended any training session in AY 2019 are requested to attend this training session, because an autumn training session is held only at Katsura Campus.

We will also offer an online course. For further details, please see Online Course below. Those who take the online course do not have to attend the training session. Attendees of the training session and those who take the online course will be registered as cryogen users in AY 2019 with the Agency for Health, Safety and Environment’s Division for Low Temperature and Materials Sciences.

Attendance Form

Training session attendees are requested to submit their attendance form. Please print out your attendance form through the online Cryogen Supply System according to the procedure detailed below and bring it to the venue of the training session. The attendance form will be collected at the exit of the venue after the training session.

If your laboratory is not yet registered, please register your laboratory first. For instruction on how to do this, please refer to the "Procedure before Usage" section of the "Cryogen Usage Guide" (https://www.ltm.kyoto-u.ac.jp/guides/yoshida/ja/registration.html (only in Japanese). After registering your laboratory, please register yourself as an individual user.

If your status or registered information has changed (such as position, year at university), please update your information in the "User info" section of the online Cryogen Supply System (Log in required).

Cryogen users at Katsura Campus are required to enter their ID numbers as follows.

Those who have updated their information are requested to log in to the online Cryogen Supply System using their individual account, click the "Training Session/Online Course for Cryogen Users" button, and then click "Create an attendance form for the training session." They should then print out the form and bring it to the training session.

Cryogen users at Uji Campus are required to submit their attendance form at the exit of the venue after the training session. At a later date, they are also required to bring their ID cards to the cryogen management office in Low-temperature Laboratory (building #53) at Uji Campus, and scan the cards at the management PC there. You can do it by yourself by following the displayed instruction.

Online Course

We offer an Online Course for Cryogen Users on all campuses. The following people are permitted to take the online course instead of attending the training session:

Staff etc.:
who attended the Training Session for Cryogen Users in AY 2017 or 2018.
Students:
Students who attended the Training Session for Cryogen Users in AY 2018. However, B4, M1, and D1 students are required to attend the training session, not online.

Cryogen users who are eligible to take the online course may also attend the training session. Those who have taken or are going to take the online course do not have to submit the attendance form.

In order to take the online course, you should log in to the online Cryogen Supply System, click the "Lecture" button, or simply go through here, and choose "take the online course." The online course will be available from the early November 2019 until November 30th 2019. We will inform you as soon as it becomes available on our website.
